About Me

Growing up in rural Cornwall, I developed a passion for wildlife at an early age.  These experiences led me to undertake a BSc in Zoology at the University of Nottingham, where I discovered a desire to share the complexities of the natural world with others through conservation work, written communication, and creative photography.

The current state of our natural world is something that cannot be ignored anymore.  I strongly feel that the photographers and filmmakers of my generation have a responsibility to fight to preserve the habitats and wildlife that our industry has thrived off for so long.  It’s an immense duty that we are faced with but I think amidst the doom and gloom portrayed by scientists and the media we can provide a more positive outlook that will inspire the public to jump on board.

The human population has more to lose via the loss of biodiversity than many people realise.  The ecosystem services that nature provides for human life are worth billions in terms of our economies.  Without pollinators our farming industries are at risk of collapse, without coral reefs our fishing industries could sink, deforestation also threatens our pharmaceutical industries, food industries, textile industries, fresh water supplies…the list goes on, and all this in the face of global warming and climate change.

I therefore personally want to open people’s eyes to this before it’s too late! It is my dream to create films and images that capture people’s imaginations whilst challenging their views and perceptions of the natural world.  In order to persue this further I am now undertaking a masters in Wildlife Filmmaking at the University of the West of England.
